July Food Events in San Francisco

July is already here! If you’re like us and plan your life around food, use the following events as your guide to (the real) beginning of summer.

Prix Fixe Before the Opera




Wednesday, July 1st from 4-5pm

Absinthe is offering a special 3 course prix fixe dinner before evening performances of San Francisco Opera’s Les Troyens for $44. The menu will only be offered between 4-5pm.

1st Course

French Onion Soup Gratinée

Coke Farm Greens Salad, strawberries, rhubarb, candied hazelnuts, ricotta salata, port wine vinaigrette

Pan-Roasted Mussels and Clams, English peas, leeks, lemon-fines herbes broth, grilled crostino

Piedmontese Beef Tartare, violet mustard, green apple, red onion, cornichons, quail egg yolk, crostini

2nd Course

Grilled NY Steak Frites, watercress salsa verde, marinated cherry tomatoes

Potato-Crusted Salmon, Little Gem lettuce salad, kohlrabi, watermelon radish, hard-boiled egg, Niçoise olives

Coq Au Vin, red Burgundy-braised Mary’s chicken, bacon, root vegetables, cremini mushrooms, crostini, persillade

Charred Tomato Flatbread, zucchini & basil blossoms, Laura Chenel goat cheese, arugula, aged balsamic

First Friday Wine Tasting




Friday, July 3rd from 3-6pm

On the first Friday of each month from 3-6pm, enjoy a complimentary tasting of a selection from Alta CA’s wine list.

Flowers Winemaker Dinner




Friday, July 10th at 6:30pm

Bastille Week Prix-Fixe




Zazie’s is designing a special French pre-fixe menu for Bastille Week between July 13-18. Escargots, Salade Chèvre Chaud, Monkfish Bourride, Îles Flottantes …all the classics will be here! The team is in France now loading up on decorations, so it should be quite the week!

Pink Zebra Pop-Up




Namu Gaji is hosting Pink Zebra for a Monday pop-up dinner series with special wine pairings from Kermit Lynch Wine and Trumpet Wine.

5 course prix fixe menu + wine pairing:

1. Porcini dashi, summer vegetable, goma tofu

2. Crudo of konbu cured shima aji and butter clams, black garlic yogurt, cucumber, seaweeds, space dust

3. Dashi braised beets, spiced onion cream, mustard green and pistachio crumble, smoked/dried apricots, radish dukkah

4. Smoked potato gnocchi, manila clams, konbu butter, miso dashi, lamb chorizo and cabbage crepinette, marjoram

5. Thyme and balsamic roasted “stones” fruits, olive oil cake, tsukudani creme fraiche
