Together with RN74 and Chef Adam Sobel, Reserve hosted the first installment of a monthly Sommelier-curated wine dinners last Thursday, March 26th. Noah Dranow, sommelier at Bourbon Steak San Francisco, chose the wine while Chef Sobel created inspired dishes as pairings.
Most attendees started out as strangers, but during the pre-dinner cocktail hour, a love of wine quickly brought the group together. Over the five-course meal, wine flowed as freely as conversation, proving what we already know and love about restaurants: bringing people together over a common interest and good food fosters fast friendships.
Throughout the five courses, guests were treated to an array of French and Austrian wines paired with inventive dishes, from from Kombu-cured Tasmanian Sea Trout to Grilled Wolfe Ranch quail. And no meal would be complete without dessert and a nightcap, so Chef Sobel and Noah paired a delicious vanilla grand macaron and strawberry-basil ice cream with a brilliant, full-bodied 2007 Huet Vouvray Molleux ‘Clos de Bourg’.
“This is a great concept for a dinner series. I was thrilled to have been chosen for the inaugural event and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.” -Noah Dranow, guest sommelier
The next installment of this series will take place on April 16th at RN74. The guest sommelier and menu will be announced shortly via an email from Reserve. Once announced, be sure to request a reservation quickly since seats fill up fast!
