Celebrating the Holidays in New York

The tree is up in Rockefeller Plaza, markets selling mittens and ornaments have popped up around the city and the Fifth Avenue window displays are at their finest - it’s the holiday season in New York. As the temperature drops, our restaurant partners are pulling out all the stops to create delicious dishes and prix fixe specials for Christmas and to welcome the New Year.

ABC Cocina and ABC Kitchen will offer an a la carte dinner menu from noon until 9 pm, with some festive specials to celebrate the holiday. On New Year’s Eve lunch will be served as per usual, with a prix fixe dinner taking place at night in addition to a la carte options.

There will be two prix fixe options at Aldea, which will seat guests between 5 pm and 9 pm on Christmas Eve. New Year’s seatings will be slightly later, at 5:30 and 10 pm, and the prix fixe menu options include a complimentary glass of Champagne to help you ring in 2015 in style.

Though closed on Christmas Eve and Day, Bar Bolonat will be serving up a prix fixe Mediterranean feast for New Year’s Eve, with two seatings at 5:30 and 8:30, giving you plenty of time to get to Times Square to see the ball drop.

The team at Birds & Bubbles knows sparkling wine isn’t just for special occasions, and will be offering their regular menu as well as a special holiday tasting menu on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

For a five-course Christmas Eve special full of Latin flavor, head to Comodo. The featured menu will include duck confit-studded buñuelos, lamb chops with goat cheese, mint sauce and lavender rice and natilla, the ever-popular Christmas custard.

To help you welcome 2015 with Italian classics, Carbone will have two seatings on New Year’s Eve, serving an opulent prix fixe menu that starts with black truffle arancini and ends with grappa and limoncello.

For an early yet amazing Basque-influenced menu, head to Huertas in the East Village, where reservations will be accepted between 5:45 and 7:15. They’ll be offering a prix fixe New Years celebration featuring their take on classic dishes, from a “Hangtown Fry” tortilla to smoked, cured and marinated fish.

Louro will be hosting a Seven Fishes Feast on Christmas Eve, with a prix fixe tasting menu that includes uni crudo and lobster fra diavolo. For New Year’s Eve, they have two seatings for a prix fixe dinner that ends with a decadent chocolate brownie - the perfect farewell to 2014?

Wish you were one of the first to celebrate the New Year? The Musket Room will transport you to New Zealand with their inspired New Year’s Eve celebration, with a six course tasting menu and multiple seatings.

On New Year’s Eve Pagani will offer their a la carte menu before 8 pm. Later in the evening a five course prix fixe menu will be available, as well as complimentary Champagne at midnight.

Piora will offer a Christmas Eve prix fixe menu that offers not only six course but also an excuse for a kiss, starting the meal with mistletoe.

No matter whether it’s Festivus, the Solstice or something more mainstream, we hope your holiday celebrations are full of friends, family and food!

Happy dining!
